What we witnessed on Tuesday night was the result of a true love story between Olivier Decamps and Winamax. In 2006, this player from Toulouse was one of the first people to open a Winamax poker table. In 2008, Olivier won a World Series of Poker Main Event package in a Winamax satellite. In 2011, he qualified for the Deauville stop on the European circuit, once again in a Winamax satellite. And then in 2013, he added the Winamax Main Event to his impressive list of achievements.

The highlight of his unfailing loyalty came on Wednesday 4th March, 2015: Olivier picked up his first live victory, and not just any victory, the Winamax Poker Tour Final in which he outlasted 1,305 opponents and a takes home €91,500!

The only professional to reach the final table, Olivier Decamps let his experience and talent do the talking as he wrote his name in the history books as the champion of the fourth ever Winamax Poker Tour. He showed the hand of a master as he controlled his game, changing speed at the right times and negotiating every twist and turn with effortless skill.

Starting the ultimate table with an average stack, Olivier showed patience, watching his opponents' batter each other before getting involved in the action himself. Olivier finally came out of the background to eject one Etienne Ben Said, getting it all in as a favourite on the flop and winning the hand to stay in touch with the leaders. The hands keep coming and the blinds increase meaning that Olivier had to start taking some risks: pushing all-in he managed to steal the blinds, continuing this strategy on multiple occasions until he was called and won a crucial coin-flip to stay alive.

It was a decisive moment which let him begin increasing his strength, little by little. Olivier worked his way into third position and then started to show flaunt his technical ability to the chagrin of his opponents. As the number of players at the table was reduced, so his presence was felt more. He took advantage of his momentum to eliminate Wael Razouk who was chip-leader at the start of play and even managed to profit from a four-of-a-kind against El Mostafa Ederoua. The machine was in action.

With play now three-handed, there seemed no obstacle blocking Olivier's path to victory and he quickly imposed himself as the captain of the ship. But it's never over till the fat lady sings, and Shakil Gill put her performance on hold, making a formidable last grasp at the title. The online qualifier gave this professional a run for his money, battling him for four hours in an impressive heads-up duel.

However, as is often the case, the pro emerged triumphant over the amateur. Exhausted, just like his final opponent, Olivier was quick to praise the runner-up before savouring his success: 'This is the first time I haven't felt the frustration of being eliminated from a tournament, it feels weird,' said Olivier who then summed up the end of the tournament perfectly, 'I tried to play small-ball and scrounge chips left, right and centre but in the end it was all decided on a flip.' Victories are often won on a flip, but it's the little details that generally make the difference and during this final, it was Olivier Decamps who completely mastered these details.
